Camp Melita Island Program Statement
"A World of Its Own"

Camp Motto: "The Scout Law Guides Melita"
Camp Colors: Blue for water, Green for the Island, Gold for the Sun

The Melita Way encourages the following:
Low impact: With its own eco-system, we encourage all to slow down, use less noise and light, and limit our human impact.
A time to enjoy: Get away from the rush of the mainland world and take advantage of the water, the land, and all the island activities in a clean, wholesome atmosphere.
A Nautical and Aquatics Theme: Because Melita is an island, the variety of boating and water-based activities is boundless.
A Western Americana Theme: American Indians first lived here and mountain men were the first visitors. We provide programs that explore Native American and Mountain Man traditions.

The 2006 Summer Program will include:
Trail to Eagle, Aquatics, Boating, Safety Afloat, Safe Boating, Safe Swim Defense, Conservation Issues, and Merit Badge Programs.

Camp Melita Island Three Weeks in 2007

This year’s Camp Melita Island will be three weeks and offers a full scout advancement program. A special boating/aquatics emphasis is a high point of the Camp Melita Island experience.  All ages of scouts learn how to safely use a variety of watercraft and go on special cruises between Melita and Wildhorse Island.  Camp Melita Island is unique in the BSA in that an entire 65 acre island on Flathead Lake serves as the scout camp.  Camper weeks for 2007 are:

July 15-July 21  Camper Session 1 (Sun-Sat.)

July 22-28   Camper Session 2 (Sun-Sat.)

July 29-August 4  Camper Session 3 (Sun-Sat)

The camp fee is $260 if paid to Montana Council in Great Falls by May 31, 2007, after that date the fee increases to $285.
